Group Membership
While the Cairde app is totally free, some folks might not have smartphones or theirs might not work with the app. If that’s the case, BeAlert will send messages via SMS, but keep in mind there’s a fee for that service.
To cover the cost of this, we ask a yearly membership fee of €10 to join the Community Alert Group.
This will offset:
- Monthly standing charge to BeAlert SMS alerts
- Purchase of community alert signage
Steps to setting up a Community Alert Group
- Having an active Community Alert group. Officers and committee selected.
- Set up an a/c. in the local Credit Union or Post Office, if required for convenience and security.
- Inviting people to become members of your Community Alert Text Network
- Creation of a list of members on a spread sheet – will be used to set up the group in the Cairde app
- Set up list of names on the Portal
- When signed up with BeAlert is complete the TA 1 form – send it to the Superintendent’s office in Tralee GS and the Liaison Gardai assigned to the group. This TA1 form gives formal notice that your network is in place
